Lower Stress For Better Looking Skin
Wouldn't we all love a magic pill that made our skin look like we were 18 again! Unfortunately, thats not the way it is. There are simple and inexpensive things you can do to reduce the aging effects on your skin.
Are you aware that your skin is the largest organ in/on your body? Did you know that one of the first places that stress shows up is in your skin? Hows that for a good reason to "de-stress" your life!
Yes...as we get older, we try every product in the world to make our skin look younger and healthier, when chances are, a little "free" meditation or yoga would probably do more than most products on the market to improve the look of our skin.
When we get stressed, our adrenal glands produce cortisol which is a stress hormone. Cortisol is pumped into our system and creates inflammation as a reaction to stress. The inflammation creates oxidants which damage cells. In small doses, inflammation helps to fight disease...but long term inflammation hurts the body and can be linked to many problems. When skin pores are inflamed, they're more likely to become clogged. With clogged skin pores comes acne, wrinkles, dryness and itchiness.
When we get stressed, we tend to do all the wrong things. We smoke, drink, eat foods we shouldn't be eating, etc. All these actions only make things worse! When times are stressful, we should try harder than ever to follow a rigid routine of eating right, exercising and getting plenty of rest.
Learning to control stress is a key component in helping you regain healthy looking skin. If you're concerned about your skin, start looking for things in your life that are causing you stress. Once you find these triggers, if you're not sure how to resolve the issues, look to a friend or a professional for help.
Learn how to meditate...it's a wonderfully calming way to spend a few minutes each morning or evening.
Exercise! Even if only for 15 minutes! Come on...isn't your life and health worth 15 to 30 minutes per day?!?!
Eat like you know you "should" be eating. You know you feel better about yourself when you eat a good healthy meal. Your body will react accordingly when you eat right. When stressed, avoid the temptation to grab some fast food.
Good night, sleep tight! Make every effort to get plenty of rest as sleep is an anti-inflammatory.
Stress doesn't just make your skin look bad...stress is a killer! Please be aware of this and make every effort to reduce stress in your life whenever you can. You'll live longer and better by reducing stress in your life.
